So you purchased a Website Design, Great ~ Now What?
There are a few important things you'll need to do as soon as you've completed purchase of a website design package. None of these things are hard, nor will they take much time but without it, we cannot complete your website design project:
- Domain Services:There are literally thousands of domain name registrars out there and it would be quite impossible for us to learn how each of them operate, nor could we easily rely on the level of customer service that may, or may not be, offered by each domain name company. It is for this very reason that we have chosen to work exclusively with one company whom we have an intimate knowledge of their platform and trust their technical support.
- We require that you Transfer or Purchase Your Domain through Domainagers.com
- Typical cost is approx. $10 p/y
- You will receive 1 Free email account with your transfer/purchase but we strongly recommend you purchase additional email accounts to help you keep your website communication organized.
- Consider the Deluxe Email Package with 5 accounts - approx. $25 p/y
- Domain Privacyis Extremely important as it protects the personal information on the internet through a 3rd party proxy agent. When you register a domain name, you are required to provide personal details of ownership such as name, address, phone, email, etc. Without Domain Privacy, this information will be exposed on the internet for all would-be thieves to extort.
- This service will cost approx. $20 p/y
- Deluxe Registration is a great service that not only includes the Domain Privacy described above, but also gives you a jumpstart on promoting your new site online. This is an optional service but probably worth purchasing.
- DO NOT purchase additional services such as SSL Certificates without speaking to us first. Certain other services offered by Domainagers may or may not be the best tools for you new website.
- BigCommerce Store Activation:If you already created a Free Trial through our site or the BigCommerce website, we of course will need you Control Panel Login Details. If you have NOT activated a trial store, no worries, we can do that for you!
- If you want us to activate the shopping cart for you, just let us know. As soon as we've opened the store for you, we will create the login information and BigCommerce will send you an email directly to confirm these details.
- Send us Information!:Much of the administrative functions of your site require a little thought on your part so that we can set everything up for you. For example, we would have know idea what you intend to charge for shipping, or what your sales tax rates are...these details need to come from you. Here is a short list of what you should email to us after purchasing your website design:
- Business Logo
- State Sales Tax Rate
- Shipping Details - this is always a "big subject" but start thinking about whether you will use USPS, UPS, Fedex - and what shipping methods you intend to use such as "Standard", "Rush", "Express", and of course the costs that should be associated with each method.
- We will contact you for additional details so just start thinking of the things we might need from you in the meantime.
- Merchant Accounts: This is another big subject that many clients don't initially understand the value of, which is why we've created a seperate section on this topic alone~ ~ See Below for more infomation.
